With four successful years behind it, Norris Conference Centers - San Antonio facility is excited to enter its fifth year of business and will continue to serve its growing clientele in the San Antonio community with incomparable customer service and a commitment to excellence. “San Antonio has proven to be a great market for us, for both day meeting and social events. This will provide a solid platform for us to continue to grow and further serve the San Antonio market,” said Dave Norris, President, Norris Conference Centers. “When I first came on board, in early 2006, there were a lot of opportunities for growth. We’ve developed a great team. We started out as a completely unknown entity and over the years have grown tremendously due to the offsite meeting and event professional members of San Antonio embracing our...

Fort Worth One-Year Anniversary

This month, Norris management, staff, and clients will celebrate the one-year anniversary of NCC Fort Worth. The new Fort Worth conference center and Red Oak Ballroom, located in Forth Worth’s revitalized and trendy Sundance Square district, opened its doors in November of last year with a goal towards becoming part of the burgeoning community.

“Even with the difficult economy right now, we are more convinced that ever that the Fort Worth market is a great fit for us and our business model,” said Dave Norris, President, Norris Conference Centers.

“Over the past year, we have made some great friends in the Sundance neighborhood. We hope to continue to integrate and grow in downtown Fort Worth over the coming years,” said Blake Crane, General Manager, Fort Worth.

The facility recently christened a new entrance and awning, which welcomes passersby to its interior with the Norris signature teal color. “Definitely worth the wait!” said Jim Cone, Vice President, Norris Conference Centers.

Norris’ Fort Worth venue is a great place to hold a variety of events from day meetings and conferences to bar mitzvahs and weddings in its Red Oak Ballroom. Last year, Fort Worth successfully hosted the Lone Star Film Society’s Lone Star International Film Festival. This year, the five-day festival will take place November 11-15, and feature a selection of narrative, documentary, feature, and short films from around the world, as the eclectic and artsy gather to meet and greet in Norris’ spacious and elegant viewing rooms.

“We have enjoyed being part of the Sundance community for the last year. We have an excellent staff and facility and look forward to growing our business in the years to come,” said Cone.

Avoiding the 4 a.m. OMG Moments

By: Linda Hampton, CMP Let’s face it; as event planners, we have all had these moments. Your eyes pop open, you glance at the clock, its four a.m. and your all of a sudden worried that you’ve forgotten to: sign the contract for your event next week, confirm the speaker, book the flights, order the name badges, or some other neurotic / paranoid detail. For those that are diligent, you might even get out of bed and check your files or your computer. However, if you are like me, you will convince yourself that by simply writing a note in the glow of your alarm clock, you can stop worrying and go back to sleep. Of course, if you’re again, like me, you will just lie there obsessing on this and all the other details you might have forgotten. I’m not saying that structure and diligence will prevent all of these OMG moments from happening, but applying adequate structure and being disciplined to implement it on a consistent basis, can assist. With 20 plus years of experience in...

10-Year Lease Opens Door to Sundance Square

10-Year Lease Opens Door to Sundance Square By Connie Gore by GlobeSt.com Tuesday, January 08, 2008 - FORT WORTH-Playing a hunch that a three-way deal could be struck, Johnny Campbell, president and CEO of Sundance Square, has persuaded AMC Entertainment Inc. to eliminate one of two CBD theaters and backfilled it before it could close. The bet has paid off with a 10-year lease for a 40,000-sf stand-alone conference center. My hunch just kind of stemmed out of watching the theater business, Campbell says. He says three-way negotiations often can be difficult. This one was a pleasure, he says. Our relationship with AMC has been very good. The inbound tenant for 304 Houston St. is Houston-based Norris Training Systems Inc., which has been scouring the city for a location nearly 18 months. ...

Exit AMC Sundance 11 Theatres, enter Norris Conference Centers

Exit AMC Sundance 11 Theatres, enter Norris Conference Centers BY MICHAEL H. PRICE January 07, 2008 Fulfilling a retrofitting possibility first pondered during the late 1990s by Sundance Square Management, longtime downtown movie operator AMC Entertainment has shuttered its Sundance 11 Theatres on Houston Street in order to open the property to a conversion by Norris Conference Centers of Houston and Austin. AMC Entertainment Inc., meanwhile, said it will bolster its downtown presence with AMC Palace 9 Theatres on East Third Street. Employees at the Houston Street address have been encouraged to interview at AMC Palace 9 or other AMC theatres, said corporate spokesman Andy DiOrio at AMC’s Kansas City, Mo., headquarters. The Jan. 6 closing of the Sundance 11 reduces by more than half the number of AMC screens in Fort Worth. In what Sundance Square President and CEO Johnny Campbell termed a joint commitment to maximize the potential of the Palace, the entertainment...

2006 Growth

Norris Conference Centers For immediate release: Conference Center owner/operator announces fourth consecutive year of double-digit growth.

Houston, TX – February 2007 – Norris Training Systems, Inc., which operates in Texas as Norris Conference Centers and Red Oak Ballroom announced another year of double digit growth driven by an increase in customer base of over 40%.

Norris facilities have served the Central Texas market since 1990 with conference centers and social venues initially in Austin, then Houston and most recently, San Antonio. Norris Conference Centers – San Antonio, which opened in September of 2005, began hitting its stride in 2006 and substantial further growth is expected in 2007.

“2006 was an exciting year for us as our established Austin and Houston businesses continued to strengthen, and our new San Antonio property really came into it’s own” said David Norris, the firm’s President and Founder. “It’s even more exciting when you consider that San Antonio still has substantial upside as it completes its ramp-up phase.”

Norris Conference Centers and Red Oak Ballroom typically share facilities and combine to host over 4000 day meetings per year, and hundreds of social events including over 50 wedding receptions.
